Sulu 3.0 – Taking a Bit More Time to Get It Right
We want to share an important update with you: We’ve decided to shift the release of Sulu 3.0 to Q3 2025.
We originally planned to launch in Q2, and we’ve made excellent progress toward that goal:
- The new content storage system is fully integrated and performing great.
- We’ve received very positive feedback from early adopters testing the migration.
- The foundation we’ve laid is solid, scalable, and future-ready.
That said, as we approached the final stretch, it became clear that we had underestimated the effort required for a thorough cleanup. Sulu 3.0 is not just the next major release — it represents an architectural shift and a unique opportunity to tidy up internal structures and code.
This is especially important because of our backwards compatibility (BC) promise: Once Sulu 3.0 is released, we are committed to maintaining BC within the 3.x series. As a result, this is our last chance to make breaking changes for several years. We want to use this moment wisely — to remove outdated code, streamline the architecture, and prepare Sulu for a stable, clean, and maintainable future.
So, we’re taking a bit more time to refine, polish, and finish Sulu 3.0 the right way. We’re confident this extra effort will result in a stronger, more reliable release — one that will support our community, partners, and future development for years to come.
Thank you for your patience and continued support. We’re excited about what’s coming — and we promise: it will be worth the wait.
