A major update for Sulu.ai

We’ve just released a major update to Sulu.ai, including a new version of the Sulu.ai bundle and several improvements to the Sulu.ai platform.

The bundle update introduces a new Symfony AI foundation, Sulu 3 compatibility, agent and embedding support, and several configuration improvements. In parallel, we’ve also rolled out platform improvements that are already available for all Sulu.ai users.

Together, these changes make it easier for developers to integrate AI capabilities directly into their Sulu projects and prepare the platform for more advanced AI use cases.

Symfony AI as the new foundation

One of the biggest changes in bundle version 0.4.0 is the migration of the Sulu.ai bundle from Modelflow AI to Symfony AI components.

This means Sulu.ai now runs on the same architectural foundation as the rest of the Symfony ecosystem, aligning AI capabilities with the infrastructure developers already use in their Sulu projects.

On top of this new foundation, the bundle now introduces the first building blocks for more advanced AI capabilities, including support for agents and embeddings. This allows developers to build custom integrations directly within their existing Sulu and Symfony environment.

To get started, check out the documentation on integrating Symfony AI components within the Sulu Bundle.

Agents and embeddings for advanced AI workflows

With the new Symfony AI foundation in place, Sulu.ai now provides access to agent and embedding capabilities that can be used to build more advanced integrations inside your projects.

  • Agents, including tools (aka. function calling)
This allows AI workflows to interact with structured functionality inside your application instead of only generating text.

  • Embeddings
Enabling semantic and embedding-driven use cases in the integration layer.

With these agents and your Sulu.ai backend, you can build custom AI tools for your clients within your existing Sulu ecosystem. Maybe a chatbot to help find or customize the best-fit product, or a contextual search tool that uses both internal databases and external API or Data-Sources.

If you’re exploring ideas with Sulu.ai, we’re happy to support your projects with our development and consulting expertise. You can also schedule a call with us directly via our calendar.

Sulu.ai now supports Sulu 3.0

With the latest bundle release, Sulu.ai is now compatible with both Sulu 3.0 and Sulu 2.6, allowing teams to use Sulu.ai in both new Sulu 3 projects and existing installations.

Configuration and integration improvements

Bundle version 0.4.0 also includes several improvements to configuration, localization, and translation workflow.

Key updates include:

  • Configurable Media Loader setup for local and staging environments
  • Improved locale mapping between Sulu and AI providers
  • Configuration options to enable or disable translation locales
  • Full snippet translation support
  • Translation of URLs and routes during full-content translation
  • Improved schema descriptions for media metadata extraction

Together, these updates improve reliability and governance when integrating AI workflows into complex multilingual Sulu projects.

To use the new bundle features, make sure to upgrade the Sulu.ai bundle to version 0.4.0.
Please refer to the README and UPGRADE documentation for the required steps.

Platform improvements

Alongside the bundle update, we’ve also rolled out several improvements to the Sulu.ai platform itself. These updates are already available automatically to all Sulu.ai users and do not require a bundle upgrade.

Highlights include:

  • Stripe payment so your invoices are included in your payment flow
  • Google Gemini added to the list of AI providers, along with several more in the works
  • An updated dashboard showing all your pricing, including current-month cost displays for both organization and project views
  • Improved subscription and pricing visibility across projects
  • A direct meeting scheduling link to connect with the Sulu team for platform support or implementation guidance
  • User roles for better access control, including Manager (full project visibility), Accounting (invoice and billing access), and Admin (full platform management including inviting users)

These improvements make it easier for teams and agencies to manage AI usage across multiple projects.

What's next

This release lays the foundation for the next generation of AI-powered CMS workflows. Intelligent Search, powered by embeddings for context-aware content discovery, is coming next.

Alongside this, we’re working on a UI update for the AI integration in the Sulu Admin, which will be rolled out iteratively in upcoming releases. We’re also introducing Metadata Profiles, bringing Sulu’s multi-webspace capabilities to the AI platform and enabling different metadata configurations per webspace.
