Sulu.ai update: Metadata profiles, category translation, and more
We are happy to announce a new update to Sulu.ai, covering improvements across both the Sulu.ai bundle (Release 0.5.0) and the platform.
This release focuses on one core theme: bringing more structure and context into AI workflows. From metadata profiles to improved translation and writing assistance, these updates make it easier to operate Sulu.ai in real-world, multi-project, and multi-brand environments.
Instead of adding "more AI," we're making AI more usable, predictable, and aligned with how Sulu projects are actually built.
Metadata profiles
Context where it actually matters
Running a single AI context across an entire platform rarely reflects how real projects are structured. Multi-brand environments, multi-country setups, or agency-managed platforms need different context depending on where content is being created — and patching that gap by duplicating projects or manually adjusting prompts doesn't scale.
With this release, we're introducing Metadata Profiles. Projects can now define multiple profiles with their own structured metadata, including:
- Company and brand information
- Target audiences
- Products
- Tone of voice
- Custom placeholders
Profiles can be assigned to one or more Sulu webspaces. API requests originating from a specific webspace automatically receive the correct context, while the existing project metadata acts as a fallback if no profile matches. This lets you structure context cleanly across complex setups — without duplicating projects or manually adjusting prompts every time.
Category translation
Consistent structure across languages
Content translation is only complete when the structural elements around that content are translated too. Navigation labels, filter categories, and taxonomy terms all shape how users experience a site — and inconsistencies there undermine even perfectly localized pages.
To round out the translation workflows in the Sulu Admin, we've added Category Translations to the bundle. Categories can now be translated alongside pages, articles, and snippets, ensuring that not only content but also structural elements remain consistent across languages. This keeps multilingual setups behaviorally coherent — not just textually translated.
Writing Assistant
Optional context and media support
AI output depends heavily on context. But forcing full-page context into every writing request isn't always the right call either — sometimes you want the assistant to work with a clean slate, and sometimes you need it to reference what's already on the page.
We've improved the Writing Assistant in the bundle to give you that control. A new flag lets you decide whether the context of the current page, media item, or article is sent to the AI. This makes it possible to reference other parts of the current content when generating text, instead of working in isolation. Media support has also been improved: images are now included in the writing assistant's context during media edits, allowing for more relevant and accurate output when working with media-heavy content.
Glossary improvements
Faster navigation and editing
For multilingual and brand-driven projects, terminology consistency is critical. But as glossaries grow, finding and editing the right entry becomes increasingly tedious without proper navigation.
On the platform side, we've improved the glossary experience with better navigation and editing capabilities. Users can now jump directly to specific sections via a table of contents and deep links (e.g., DE–EN), and glossary items can be edited directly in place. This makes it significantly easier to maintain consistent language across large, multi-project setups.
Organization roles
Clear separation of responsibilities
As teams grow and project ownership becomes more distributed, access control matters more. Mixing billing, project management, and user administration into a single role creates unnecessary friction — and risk.
We've refined organization roles on the platform to better reflect how teams actually work:
- Owner/Admin — full access, including billing, project management, and user administration
- Manager — project management only
- Accounting — billing and account access
Separating these responsibilities improves governance, especially in setups where different stakeholders are responsible for operations and billing.
Upgrade notes
To take full advantage of the new features — particularly Metadata Profiles, Category Translations, and the updated Writing Assistant — projects should update to Sulu.ai bundle 0.5.0. The update is optional: older bundle versions will continue to work as before, and no breaking changes have been introduced. Platform-side improvements (Glossary and Organization Roles) are available to all users without a bundle update.
This release runs on Sulu 3.0 (Active) and Sulu 2.6 (LTS).

We're continuing to expand Sulu.ai with more structured and context-aware capabilities, including Intelligent Search powered by embeddings, deeper integration into the Sulu Admin, and more advanced AI workflows.
